Red Collar / Eleke
This Red Collar (Eleke) is a traditional strand of red beads commonly used in African Traditional and African Derived religious, spiritual and devotional practices. Red is often associated with spirits of strength, courage, vitality, protection, passion, determination, and the fiery forces of transformation.
In the Yoruba and Afro-Cuban traditions, Red elekes are associated with Iroso (also known as Irosun), one of the 16 major foundational Odu Ifá (sacred divination signs). It is the 4th (in Santería) or 5th (in Ifá) sign in the oracle hierarchy and is represented by four cowries on one side and an empty shell on the other.
Whether worn as a symbol of faith, devotion, spiritual connection, or personal empowerment, this simple yet powerful collar serves as a meaningful addition to one's spiritual practice. It may also be placed on altars, sacred spaces, spiritual images, or ritual objects as an offering or devotional adornment.
Please note that traditions vary, and the significance of colors and collars may differ among spiritual paths.
